Joris van Loenhout

Joris obtained his MSc in Toxicology and Environmental Health at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, in 2006. From 2007 to 2014, he worked at the department of Environmental Health at the Public Health Services Gelderland-Midden, managing several EU funded projects. From 2010 onwards, he combined his work there with a PhD project on the long-term health effects of Q-fever at Radboud University Nijmegen, which he defended in early 2015. Since joining CRED in 2014, he has worked on varying topics, such as extreme temperatures and health, an outbreak of cholera in South Sudan and the impact of typhoon Haiyan on hospitalisations in the Philippines.
