Julita Gil Cuesta is a Medical Doctor and Master in Public Health in Spain. She holds a degree as Specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health (2006-2010) in Valle Hebron Hospital, Barcelone, Spain. She worked for the World Health Organization (WHO) country office in Vietnam (2010-2012) as a JPO in the Maternal and Child health and Nutrition unit. She did the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET/ECDC) programme at the Statens Serum Institute in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she was part of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology department (2012-2014). She has collaborated with WHO as consultant for outbreak response in Bolivia and Sierra Leone and with INGOs as MSF-OCA in Republic Democratic of Congo and Zerca y Lejos in Cameroon. She joined the Centre of Research on Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) at the University of Louvain in November 2014.
Her expertise is on surveillance systems, outbreak investigations and vaccine preventable diseases epidemiology.
