“For me, this EMMPHID year has been an exciting, wonderful journey of discovery and learning in the field of disasters, conflicts and emergencies. Though the topic of dealing with disasters can be heavy and depressing at times, this course has opened my mind to just how much can still be done to save lives and reduce or mitigate the impact of disasters through proper needs assessments, planning, preparedness and timely response. I take with me a world of knowledge and experiences from the programme, but more importantly I now belong to a global family of classmates and disaster experts who I know I will meet out there in the field and work together with in years to come. The rich diversity of ideas, backgrounds, perspectives and learning experiences that we’ve had from this group during this is invaluable, as are the memories and friendships forged along the way.”
