University of Nicosia is the largest private university in Cyprus. It is an independent, co-educational, equal opportunity institution of higher education, which offers a wide range of programmes to students from around the world.
In 2011, the University of Nicosia established the first Medical School in Cyprus. The EMJMDPHID will be taught at the School of Medicine under the Department of Primary Care and Population Health. This is a young department that focuses on developing activities across the three academic pillars, namely education, research and community outreach. The educational activities include the delivery of postgraduate courses in the areas of Primary Care and Public Health. Research activities are diverse and include participation in local, European and international cutting edge projects through collaborations with partners in Cyprus, Europe, the USA and Israel. The department also runs a Mobile clinic that serves communities in remote villages, refugee camps and schools and aims to promote health through educational activities and opportunistic screening programmes.
